BitMine Declares First Crypto Dividend Amid Market Volatility
Ethereum treasury firm BitMine has announced plans to become the first large-cap cryptocurrency company to declare annual dividends, marking a significant milestone in the digital asset space. This announcement, made after releasing its fiscal year results on November 21, 2025, comes amidst a challenging period for the crypto industry, characterized by ups and downs and the bursting bubble of some digital asset treasuries (DATs).
BitMine reported a net income of $328 million, translating to $13.39 in fully diluted earnings per share (BMNR). The company intends to pay an annual dividend of $0.01 per BMNR share, with a payable date set for December 29, 2025. This move aims to return value to shareholders during a weakening crypto market. Despite this positive development for shareholders, the BMNR stock has seen significant volatility, currently valued at around $26—a 25% decline in the past week and substantially down from its 2025 high of $135.
The firm’s strategy includes continued faith in Ethereum, evidenced by its relentless acquisition strategy, such as a recent purchase of 21,054 ETH. BitMine holds approximately 3.55 million ETH tokens, valued at around $10 billion, acquired at an average cost of $3,120, resulting in nearly $4 billion in unrealized losses. Looking ahead, BitMine plans to launch its Made in America Validator Network (MAVAN) for ETH staking in early 2026, signaling a long-term commitment to its Ethereum holdings despite the current market struggles and price weakness.
