Cardano & Brave Wallet Partnership: Boosting Web3 Privacy
Cardano and Brave Software have partnered to fully integrate Cardano support into the Brave Wallet, a significant development for the Cardano blockchain. This integration will allow users to send, receive, swap, and sign ADA and all Cardano native assets directly within the Brave browser without needing extensions. This collaboration, spearheaded by Input Output (IO), positions Brave as a key partner in Cardano’s Voltaire governance era. The integration is framed as a significant step towards a more secure, accessible, and user-respecting Web3. Brave’s CEO, Brendan Eich, highlights the move as enhancing multi-chain access, security, and user experience. Cardano creator Charles Hoskinson sees this as the first of “several dozen deals” resulting from IO’s privacy-first sidechain project, Midnight. Midnight, employing zero-knowledge proofs for confidential smart contracts, is revitalizing stalled partnerships. Hoskinson anticipates this collaboration will disrupt advertising companies and VPN providers due to its enhanced privacy features. The Brave Wallet already supports Ethereum and Solana, and with the addition of Cardano, it expands its reach to over 85 million monthly active users. The integration also includes support for swaps of Cardano native tokens like NIGHT and enables governance voting directly within the browser. While the immediate market reaction to the news was muted, with ADA trading around $0.80, the long-term implications are expected to be significant, particularly with the potential for future innovations around Cardano’s governance and Midnight’s development.
